Wigan Warriors set for record crowd on opening night
Reigning Super League Champions Wigan Warriors will host the
Leigh Leopards at the Brick Community Stadium in the opening match of the 2025
season tonight. The match, dubbed the 'Battle of the Borough,' is expected to attract
a record-breaking opening night crowd, with over 20,000 fans in attendance.
Wigan entered the game as reigning champions, having secured
a historic quadruple in 2024 under head coach Matt Peet. Despite their prior
success, Peet emphasized the team's commitment to continuous improvement,
stating, "We can be better."
Leigh, under the guidance of head coach Adrian Lam, fielded
several debutants, including David Armstrong, Tesi Niu, Isaac Liu, and Ethan
