The event was due to see both Quins men's and women's teams play Bristol Bears at the home of English Rugby Twickenham, next door to their regular home the Stoop. However with rail strikes taking place over the festive period there will be no trains running to the ground on that day.

The game will still go ahead but will now be moved back to the Stoop to accommodate a much smaller number of fans.

Quins chief executive Laurie Dalrymple confirmed the postponement in a letter to fans saying 'Through decisions and circumstances that are entirely out of the Club’s control, the reality is there is simply not enough of a transport infrastructure to safely accommodate a large scale event at Twickenham Stadium on 27 December. 

In partnership with the RFU, who have been in regular communications with South Western Railway, we do not have a mainline station or rail network to support the movement of our supporters to safely come to and depart from our event.'

The Big Game 14 event will now be rescheduled for March against Exeter Chiefs.
